The History of the TEAM Bib
Every brand has a goal of a garment that becomes its benchmark. Ideally not just within the business, but the ultimate goal is that it becomes the benchmark in the industry. For us—and yes, we’re biased—we believe that product is our TEAM Bib. It’s the piece that riders wear most. Bang for buck, it’s a continual standout in an overpriced category.
The TEAM Bib was first created eight years ago with one goal: to build the most reliable, value-for-money bib in the market—a garment that performs like a premium race bib, but that you can wear every single day. Over the years, it’s earned its reputation through subtle improvements that stack up over thousands of hours in the saddle.
From the start, it’s been defined by durability, compression, and comfort. The base fabric, a 250 gsm Italian knit we call CorePower, delivers consistent compression without restriction, with enough recovery to feel the same on day one as it does on ride one hundred.
Product Specifications
The Men’s TEAM Bib is made from CorePower, a 250 gsm warp-knit fabric designed for firm, consistent compression that still breathes. It’s paired with the BSC High-Density Greenlime Pad, a proprietary dual-foam chamois engineered for rides over four hours.
The pad’s 120 kg foam density provides sit-bone stability, while a 90 kg foam at the front relieves pressure on the soft tissue and pudendal nerves.
The 2026 Update
For 2026, the TEAM Bib doesn’t reinvent the wheel—it just smooths it out.
- Cuff-less Finish: The new seamless leg cuff creates a smooth transition on the thigh, with internal silicone that grips without irritation or abrasion.
- Refined Strap System: Updated lightweight strapping stays invisible on the shoulders, improving comfort and breathability under jerseys.
- CorePower Fabric Evolution: Upgraded knit structure enhances compression stability and stretch recovery after repeated use.
- Durability Focus: Reinforced seam placements reduce torsional strain through high-stress zones, improving fabric longevity.
Testing Procedures
Our bib testing process follows the same formula as every Black Sheep product: test, refine, repeat. Each generation of the TEAM Bib undergoes months of stress testing in the lab and on the road.
1. Wash Testing
We simulate 200+ hours of wear, equivalent to 50 wash cycles, evaluating:
- Dimensional stability (±2% tolerance after 50 washes)
- Colourfastness and fabric integrity
- Silicone cuff adhesion and recovery
2. Fabric Durability Testing
Each fabric is subjected to Martindale abrasion and tensile stress testing:
- Martindale Abrasion: 50,000 cycles before visible distortion.
- Tensile Strength: 230 N (warp) / 190 N (weft).
- Elastic Retention: 97% recovery after 1,000 stretch cycles.
3. Performance Testing
Our senior designer and product tester, Graeme Renard, rode the final pre-production sample through an indoor protocol focused on seam load and gripper migration.
