Enduro Bib

The Goal

We set out to make the Enduro Bib best in class in three ways. Storage that feels considered, not bolted on. A strapping system built to be worn for days. And for women, a proper answer to the nature break.

The Brief
  • Keep storage on the leg, and rethink the pocket’s placement and geometry so it’s easy to reach on the bike and holds its load
  • Use the right mesh for the pocket: enough stretch to hold, enough structure not to sag
  • Rebuild the straps in elastic, not mesh, for comfort over days
  • Retain the broad gripper shape
  • Women’s: a bathroom break zipper and drop flap on the back

Apparel Design

Creating the Bib

The long version is months of samples and strap debates. Here is Jordan on the women’s bib and its EasyPeezy™ zip, then the men’s.

Sampling

Problem solving

If we showed you everything that happened behind the scenes, it probably wouldn’t be pretty. But a lot of it makes us laugh.

Feedback · Oct 2022

“A tad snug”

Quality, comfort and chamois all landed. In their usual size, though, the fit was so snug that even the pockets were almost useless.

Decision

Fit comes first

Problem
Every feature depends on the fit. Too snug and the pockets, the straps and the chamois all stop doing their job.
Decision
Fit checked on men’s and women’s samples in size M. Of two versions, the one without a mesh front fitted best and went forward.

Pocket mesh, three ways

An open mesh took a phone but bagged out once a gel went in.

Decision

Pockets that hold their load

Problem
A pocket that sags when loaded is a pocket you stop using.
Decision
New placement and geometry, in a tighter stretch mesh that keeps its shape with a phone or gels inside.

“It needs a drop flap too”

A zip alone still leaves you half out of the bib. Then it got a name.

03EasyPeezy rear zip on the Women's Enduro Bib, from the 3D model

Decision

A zip for the stop nobody plans for

Problem
A bathroom stop in a bib means taking half your kit off.
Decision
A large YKK zip and drop flap on the back of the women’s bib, so it opens without the straps coming off.
04Broad gripper cuff on the Enduro Bib, from the 3D model

Decision

Keep the gripper wide

Problem
Cuffs creep when the effort changes and the ride runs long.
Decision
Keep the broad cuff and print the Black Sheep gripper pattern in silicone. The wide band holds without squeezing.
