Field Notes: Zer0 Bib
The Zer0 Bib isn’t about adding more; it’s about removing everything that gets in the way. No cuff. No pressure line. Just uninterrupted compression, a pad that feels made for...
Rather than refining around the edges, we went back to first principles: fabric behaviour, airflow, and how a jersey actually interacts with the rider at speed. What emerged is a purpose-built race jersey that prioritises aerodynamics and thermoregulation in equal measure, without sacrificing fit or feel.

This is a full redesign of what was previously our Aero Jersey, a garment that had been part of the Black Sheep lineup for close to three years.
At its core, the AeroWeave Jersey is defined by fabric innovation.
The primary material is AeroWeave, a 135gsm warp-knit fabric composed of 95% polyester. On first touch, it’s unexpectedly soft for such a performance-oriented textile. But the real story lives in its structure.
AeroWeave features a wave-like surface construction, subtle ridges that create an open architecture within the fabric. These waves serve two distinct and critical functions:
First, airflow. The open gaps between the ridges allow the fabric to expand under movement and promote near-continuous airflow across the skin. In warm conditions, this translates to rapid heat dispersion and consistent temperature regulation under load.
Second, aerodynamics. AeroWeave has been tested in a velodrome wind tunnel, where it demonstrated measurable aerodynamic benefits. The raised wave structure slightly increases the boundary layer of air as it passes over the rider’s body. This controlled increase reduces downstream turbulence, lowering drag as air detaches behind the rider.
In simple terms: manage the air better, go faster.
The AeroWeave Jersey uses a second base fabric through key zones — a 160gsm compression knit that will feel familiar to long-time Black Sheep riders. This fabric provides structure, muscle support, and stability through the torso, ensuring the jersey maintains its race fit even under high output.
A newly introduced AeroLite chest panel (130gsm, 87% polyester, 13% nylon) completes the system. Lighter and more permeable, this panel allows additional airflow through the front of the jersey, balancing cooling with compression so the garment stays snug without feeling restrictive.
Every panel placement is intentional. Each fabric exists where it performs best.
The AeroWeave Jersey is built in a Race Fit — tight by design, because aerodynamics demand precision.
One of the most noticeable refinements is the updated shoulder and neckline construction. Black Sheep has continuously refined its collar profile over the years, and this iteration brings it even lower and cleaner. The shoulder seam has been subtly repositioned rearward, improving airflow transition while also sharpening the silhouette on the bike.
This seam placement isn’t just aesthetic. By relocating it to a more aerodynamically strategic point, it further supports boundary layer management across the upper torso.
This jersey is designed for racing, full stop. It’s the garment our athletes will line up in, starting from early-season road racing through to peak competition.

Field Notes are our way of pulling back the curtain. They’re written by the designers and athletes who build and break every Black Sheep product. Real testing. Real data. Real stories from the road, trainer, or lab — all to show the work behind the gear you wear every day.
